Can anyone tell me why almost every file I try to look at on this site will only give me blank boxes with red x's in them? Thanks

Unfortunately this is normal on larger open sites. People report inappropiate images (= copyrighted images) and it gets removed.

A remedy, visit the PG at least once a day to rip the content. Also, you can subscribe to an entire forum and you get updates per e-mail (daily I believe) with the newest threads.

It's like a product that's sold out. Be quick or become a victim of gone content :D.

In my experience here when pics get reported/removed it justs leaves an empty space where the pics would have been. I haven't seen any red x's.

Before I figured out my security software last year I experienced something similar on another forum. I had all the settings set to maximum protection. It was a little too aggressive.

And if your using firefox there's an option in Tools - options - the content tab to either load remote images - load images remotely - load images automatically - something like that. Be sure that is checked. Let me know if this helped any?
:)

Also if you can copy and paste links to specific threads or posts I can tell you if it is just you or if it is the thread/post itself.

FireFox doesn't know red x's, it's an Internet Explorer phenomenon and a pretty good one. FireFox gives no feedback whatsoever if there's a dead image, if all images are dead you see nothing. Bad Fox!

Anyway, since he sees a blank box with a red x I'm confident images died :D.

Thanks Guys. This has become a big problem for me. Unfortunately I can't download whole posts right now. I made the mistake of signing up with Hughesnet, and they stuck me with a 200 MB a day download limit. Guess I am just stuck with what I can get when I can get it.

I'm wondering it there's a way to force the red x thing to happen in Firefox - in the about:config screen perhaps?

Guess you would have to know what causes it in IE and/or why it doesn't happen in Firefox. Then I guess you could go from there.

There isn't such an option, at least not one with a desirable effect. FireFox shows image placeholders by default but if there are no image dimensions set in html (usually on forums etc) FireFox shows nothing.

FireFox lacks several logical features like that compared to IE. People browsing threads get the impression the original poster didn't post images in his thread when images are dead whereas in IE you get a red x notifying you of dead content.

Any ideas why Firefox is this way. Was it wrote like this with a purpose in mind. Security or something.

No, FireFox assumes all pages are correctly coded. That's also it's biggest flaw (see above problem). A simple lack of dimension in the HTML document and a placeholder doesn't function.

IE ignores improper code (or at least virtualizes a proper end tag for example) for the sake of user friendliness. That's why bad coded sites look worse in FireFox than in IE :D.

Also, don't forget that nowadays it's cool to say Firefox rocks. Like with the iPhone, people use it because it's advertised so well and other people use it. When it comes around, I find IE better, nicer and flatout intuitive.
