View Full Version : question(s) about vids
a) sections.
what is stuff like this (http://www.proving-grounds.net/forum/showthread.php?t=70508) considered as?
full movie? scene?
b) movie maniac
nice idea, but does anyoe else notice (bothers...) tat there are many "movie maniac"-threads either dupes (sometimes the same thread appears twice in the same section) or reposts of threads in other sections?
just curious... ;)
in general: is reposting considered as an issue or an inevitable fact?
Two good questions.
Don't take this as law, just my opinions on the subject.
Let me answer part b first. Maybe
I've also noticed that some members have posted the same threads as movie maniac. I've brought this topic up before in a few pm's but we haven't decided what to do about it yet. Here's why I think that is.
To the best of my understanding movie maniac is just a program or script of sorts that receives content through RSS.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(file_format)
RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with web sites in an automated manner that can be piped into special programs or filtered displays.
So essentially this content comes in from somewhere. Gets sorted then posted. All of this is supposed to be automated.
So this I guess is what is hard to figure out. The content has to come from somewhere right? So either some members are copying and pasting from one movie maniac thread into another they created. Or by coincidence these members happen to be posting this stuff where the RSS feeds are coming from and are now members of this forum as well posting there content here.
Understand:confused:
Who is copying who?
Now for part a
I think the scene section is apprpriate for those type of videos. I think of full movies as something having been released on dvd, having multiple scenes, with same or different actors in a variety of situations, and lasting at least an hour probably longer.
If any one else has any thoughts on this then please feel free to speak your mind.
i understand the idea behind the "rss"-content-feed, but i just prefer people posting their "own" work (got enough experience to see that there´s a lot of "stealing" going on...;))
i´d rather see people posting in a forum instead of having a bot-result-flooding.
as for the first part: is there a chance to extend the prefixes to the movies as well? at least for the "scenes"-part?
thanks for the quick answer!

The MovieManiac bot posts very few threads to be honest - and they are usually drowned out by "real" posts. I'm not sure that I'd call it flooding... ;)

There are no plans at this time to extend prefixes to any other sections of the site. However, I'll add it to the list of ideas to discuss during the next staff meeting we have. :)

well... sometimes it´s not that nice to see someone "annonymously" collecting stuff i´ve upped myself... *cough* ;)
OK, point taken. We'll discuss the idea of removing MovieManiac.
