Starcraft goes 3d...

Now we just have to wait for the programmers to finish it.

Oh and a bit of info in order to play the mod you need to own both Starcraft and Broodwars, and since it's a mod for Warcraft III you naturally have to own a copy of that too.

They have the "Starcraft Warchest" at BestBuy right now for 19 bux....

If its a mod for WC3 why do you also need SC and BW? I own all 3 but it doesnt make sense to me. Thanks for posting though I'll keep my eye out for this.

Well from what I understand from the PCGamer story where I first heard bout this, people have tried mods like this before, in the past they didn't require you to own both of the SC games. So in essense you were getting Starcraft for free. The folks at Blizzard didn't like that too much so they got their lawyers to send a "OMG YOU GUYS SUCK, STOP IT!!" letter to the people who made the mod.

From the FAQ at the site for the new mod.

Why do we need to own both CD's?
We're not going to allow people to play Project Revolution without first owning both StarCraft and StarCraft Brood War. We're also using the SC CD's for the sound and music. This will make the final download much smaller.

This does two things, as they point out it makes the download much smaller (us folk on dialup thank them) and also what they don't say is it lessens the chance that Blizzard will get pissed and send them a "cease and desist" thing from one of their laywers.

Blizzard is happy because nobody is getting any of their games for free. And Starcraft enthusiast are happy because we get better graphics for a kickass game, that most of us own anyway.

I think it's a rather bad idea, that mod ;p. If we're lucky, Blizzard might just create World of Starcraft!

I'd much rather have a new Diablo title or a new Starcraft RTS before World of Starcraft.
